Melbourne and the Shrine of Remembrance

Recently while in Melbourne, Australia, Michael and I went on a walk with Olivia Newton-John as she showed us one of her favorite parks in Melbourne - the Royal Botanic Gardens - and the view of Melbourne from the Shrine of Remembrance.

Gorgeous botanic gardens, and the Shrine is amazing.  One the most recognizable monuments in Melbourne, it's dedicated not only to the Australian soldiers of WWI, but also to the Australians who stayed behind but supported their troops.  Amazing view of Melbourne from the top of the Shrine. (As always, click on any pic for a larger view).

  2. I used to go to the Shrine very early in the morning for ANZAC Day. Great views of Melbourne's skyline, particularly if you get to the top of the Shrine itself. Mind you, nothing beats the views from Eureka Tower.

South Yarra is a fantastic area - Australia's best shopping (Chapel Street) and super-tony Toorak with its "village" is right next door. I had my graduation at Toorak Centre so I have fond memories of this area. Melbourne was all about 20's. I got up to so much mischief when I lived there. LOL It was fab. You and Michael should get back again and do the urban villages - get for shopping. Just get a MET pass and you can ride the trams all day.
